The Migrant and Immigrant Community Action Project (MICA Project) was founded in 2011 by law students Nicole Cortés and Jessica Mayo.  Through their work in the nonprofit immigration field, they observed surplus need for low-cost immigration legal services.

The MICA Project utilizes a combination of community outreach and legal services to promote the voice and dignity of immigrant communities.

The MICA Project’s combined approach addresses the surplus need for immigration legal services in immigrant communities by taking a proactive approach, providing immigrants with the information and resources they need before legal issues arise.

Since the organization's founding, the MICA Project has worked with hundreds of individuals and families in the St. Louis region, and has expanded to a total staff of twenty full-time employees, with many interns and volunteers.  The MICA Project now has multiple attorneys, Accredited Representatives, a director of Client Support Services, and other support staff.

About Tracy Gulovsen & Renate Potter

Educator and Learner for Life

Education and understanding have been the driving forces throughout my career. Whether helping a child learn to communicate, teaching older adults the skills to earn a GED or providing a pathway for an individual with a hearing loss to stay connected and vital, I've been blessed with the opportunities to be a part of making a difference in the lives of others.

Through writing/publishing I've been given another channel to demonstrate how compassion and patience can be another path for learning and acceptance.

My name is Renate Potter and I'm an illustrator from the Netherlands.

I've had a lot of different jobs before I decided to chase my dream and become an illustrator. Most of those jobs were involved in education. I'm a sucker for Ancient History and in my childhood, I always wanted to be an archaeologist, but I wasn't that good in science.

I love to create images that are appealing to both grown-ups and children. Images that can put a smile on your face and let your imagination kick in. Pictures that can translate feelings, emotions and memories. My heart is with the child in every one of us and I hope to do it justice.

I love what I do! Please contact me if you're interested in engaging me for a project or have any questions.
